Laurent Tirard studied filmmaking at New York University, then worked as a script reader for the Warner Brothers, returned to France to be a journalist for Studio Magazine for six years, then became a screenwriter from 1997 to 2003, and then crossed over into feature length directing in 2004, with “Mensonges et trahisons” (“The Story of my Life”). He has directed seven more features since : “Molière” (2007), « Le Petit Nicolas » (« Little Nicolas » 2009), « Astérix et Obélix : au service de sa Majesté » (2012), « Les vacances du Petit Nicolas » (« Little Nicolas on vacation » 2014), « Un homme à la hauteur » (« Up for Love » 2016), « Le retour du héros » (« Return of the Hero » 2018), and the soon-to-be-released « Le discours » (« The speech »). He also co-wrote « Prête-moi ta main » (« Rent a wife ») in 2006. Since « Le retour du héros », Laurent Tirard also produces his films, through his company « Les Films sur Mesure ».
